1. What Information We Process
To provide voice-to-text and context-aware assistance, we may process:
- Voice Input: Your voice recordings when you use the App to dictate text.
- On-Screen Context: To understand what you're replying to, the App uses Android's Accessibility Service to read limited conversation details on screen, such as visible messages, conversation history, names, profile names, other personal info visible in the current conversation, and the text you have typed or selected in input fields. We never process password fields or other similarly sensitive information.
- App & Device Info: Technical details about your device and the application you are using Typiq in (e.g., package name). This helps us ensure the App works correctly and diagnose issues.
- Account Information: Basic profile details from when you sign in (like your User ID and email) to connect your requests to your account.
- Purchase & Subscription Data: If you subscribe to Typiq, we process information related to your subscription, such as purchase tokens, product identifiers, and subscription status. Payment details (like credit card numbers) are handled entirely by Google Play and are never accessible to us.
- Usage Data: Anonymous metrics about how the app is used (e.g., feature usage and error rates) to help us find and fix problems.
- Anonymous Analytics & Attribution Data: When you install the App, we may receive an anonymous, randomly-generated identifier (provided by our redirect service) to help us understand which marketing campaigns led to the install. We also collect anonymous funnel events such as "onboarding viewed", "sign-in completed", "subscription activated", and permission grants. These events are linked only to a random analytics identifier - they are never connected to your name, email address, account credentials, or any other personal information.
- Debug Logs: If you choose to send debug logs through the App's feedback feature, we receive app log entries along with your device model, OS version, and app version. This data is only collected when you manually submit it - we do not collect it automatically.
2. How We Use This Information
- To Provide the Service: We use your voice and on-screen context to give you transcriptions and generate relevant replies.
- To Improve the App: We analyze usage data to make the App more accurate, faster, and easier to use.
- To Measure Marketing Effectiveness: We use anonymous attribution data (including the Google Play install referrer and campaign parameters) to understand which channels and campaigns bring users to the App. This data contains no personal information and is used solely for aggregate analysis.
- To Keep the Service Working: We monitor for errors and technical issues to ensure the App is reliable and secure.
- To Meet Legal Requirements: We may be required to use information to comply with the law.
3. How We Protect and Store Your Information
- Security: All communication between the App and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS.
- Data Minimization: We only process the information we need to make the App work.
- Retention: We temporarily store data like your transcriptions to provide and improve the service. This data is subject to periodic deletion, and you can request its deletion at any time (see "Your Controls").
- Logging: Release versions of the App do not log sensitive on-screen text or recorded content.
4. Who We Share Information With
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for their independent use.
We may use trusted service providers to help us operate the App and deliver its core features. These providers are under strict contractual obligation to keep your information secure and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. Your data is not used to train third-party models.
Analytics: We use PostHog (posthog.com) as our analytics service provider for processing anonymous funnel and attribution events. PostHog receives only the random analytics identifier and the event data described above. We do not send PostHog your name, email address, account credentials, audio recordings, accessibility content, on-screen text, or any other personal or sensitive information. PostHog acts as a data processor on our behalf.
If you purchase a subscription, your payment is processed by Google Play. We receive subscription status and purchase verification data from Google, but we never have access to your payment method details (such as credit card numbers). Google's privacy policy governs how they handle your payment information.
5. Your Choices and Controls
- Permissions: You are in control. You can manage the App’s permissions (like for the microphone and Accessibility Service) in your phone’s system settings at any time.
- Data Requests: You can request a copy of your personal data or ask us to delete it by contacting us. We will verify your identity before fulfilling such requests.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. If you believe we have collected personal information from a child, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
7. International Transfers
Your information may be processed on servers located in countries other than your own. We take steps designed to ensure your data is protected with appropriate safeguards, no matter where it is processed.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the revised Policy.
9. Contact Us

10. Export Compliance
You agree to comply with all applicable U.S. export control and sanctions laws, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and U.S. Department of the Treasury sanctions (OFAC). You represent and warrant that you are not located in a sanctioned country or listed on any restricted party list, and you will not use the App for any prohibited end use.
This Policy applies to the Typiq mobile application and related services.
